Our environmental mission and focus

Our environmental focus areas are on our impact on the atmosphere, our shared natural resources, and the biodiversity of our planet: Atmosphere: To continually reduce emissions of greenhouse gases, including CO2 from our products’ complete life cycle. Natural Resources: To continually improve natural resource conservation through operational improvements and product design. Biodiversity: To contribute to biodiversity through habitat enhancement, and through environmental education and research. As of June 2011, we have set the following goals for these focus areas: Atmosphere: We have established a global goal of 35% reduction in CO2 per sales from the company’s total operations (raw material and component procurement, manufacturing and logistics) and also its products’ “after-use” Atmosphere: We are pursuing a challenging goal to improve tire rolling efficiency by 25%, resulting in less fuel use and CO2 emissions from driving, while also extending the life of its tires Natural Resources: Continual improvement of waste generation and recycling, toward 100% beneficial reuse, and also reducing product weight per service unit while maintaining or improving products’ quality and safety Biodiversity: to engage in our communities, educating and promoting biodiversity enhancement, while improving wildlife habitat on our own lands In This Section: Environmental Mission Statement CEO Environmental Statement Environmental Goals & Progress History & Heritage The Bridgestone Essence Our Environmental Mission To help ensure a healthy environment for current and future generations.
